I purchased this with the intent on making chocolatey treats. Brownies typically have this very rich dark chocolatey flavor and I wanted to be able to make things without having to dunk a ton of cocoa in to get some flavor, like I usually do with chocolate milkshake flavored protein (which is most proteins out there, unless you go for dark chocolate). Well, this ain't it. The flavor is more like a sweet chocolate milkshake, but diluted with more milk. (Kinda like not putting enough quik in your milk, but adding more sugar?) If it wasn't for the fact cocoa doesn't tend to mix well, and neither does vegan protein, I would just remove the scooper from the tub, open a jar of cocoa and dump it straight in, then mix everything together. It's sweet enough that there prolly wouldn't be too much bitterness, really. I haven't actually baked with it yet, but vegan proteins typically work really well so I'm sure it will be ok. As far as drinking vegan protein goes, this one is smoother than most others I've tried before, but it still has this chalky, chunky thing going on. Tastes the same with milk OR water, so you can save some milk calories there.
Delicious protein...not very chocolatety.
So many good ways to eat this! It's a staple for a quick go-to meal. Besides a shake, there's lots of other recipes I use it in. Here's the fastest: Smash a scoop with enough almond milk to make a nice, thick gloopy mess. Stir in any extras: frozen berries, shredded coconut, walnuts, grate a bit of dark chocolate in for an extra special treat. If you need to up your caloric intake, add in some coconut oil, or peanut butter. Pancakes (for us non-vegans who want to give dairy and meat a break): 1/3 cup egg whites 2/3 scoop Vegan Plant Based Protein (flavour of your choice) a sprinkle of psyllium husk 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional) Stir everything together. Let the batter sit for a 2-3 minutes to soak up the psyllium while you heat your pan. Spray a heated pan with coconut oil (or other fat to lightly grease). Pour in the batter and spread out nice and thin. Fry on medium heat til bubbly, then flip and cook til done (just a minute or less usually). This travels really well since it rolls up neatly, and doesn't crumb at all, making it great to grab on the way out the door. Good hot or cold. Plain, or with syrup/jam/applesauce/fresh berries. Whatever: use your imagination. :)
I love this brand. It’s so creamy and rich. Really good to mix or have on its own, make protein cake or protein banana bread. I use it for all sorts of different recipes
Tastes way better than some other vegan stuff I’ve had.
