A closer look
What forms will I see on a label?
Liquids, capsules and gummies can differ substantially in acetic-acid content. A gummy is not automatically equivalent to the vinegar used in a study.
Why people use it
People use it for weight-management, appetite and blood-sugar goals.
These are common goals and marketing uses. The evidence section below explains what research supports.
What does the evidence tell us?
Some trials report metabolic improvements, but studies are small and variable. Strong evidence for substantial, lasting weight loss is lacking, and findings from liquids cannot automatically be applied to gummies.
What should I know before using it?
Acidic liquids can irritate the throat and damage tooth enamel; do not drink vinegar undiluted. Seek advice with diabetes medicines or digestive conditions. It does not replace diabetes treatment.
